Mill Steet Cafe
Giraffe is delighted that its plans to convert the disused Mill Street public conveniences into a street Café have taken a significant step forward. At a recent Council Planning meeting, Giraffe was granted planning permission to proceed with its plans to refurbish the building and create a training kitchen, small sit-in café and take away hatch. Giraffe will convert this current eyesore into a visually attractive business in this busy part of Perth and will sell a unique range of refreshments including hot and cold snacks and light meals.
Most importantly, the Mill Street proposal signifies the expansion of Giraffe’s community interest activity in Perth with the creation of work experience, accredited training and paid part-time employment for local adults facing significant hurdles in accessing and sustaining employment.
Giraffe and its partner CheckIn Works are now busy raising the capital investment required for the project. To date we have raised almost half the investment and hope to be successful in securing the remaining money from the new Enterprise Growth Fund.
Giraffe plans to open the Café in June 2012. Watch this space for details.
