Giraffe Trading CIC Objectives
The Company's object is to carry on activities which benefit the community and in particular (without limitation) to
- create sustainable paid employment, work experience, volunteering and other related opportunities, through social enterprise trading, for disadvantaged adults1 in the Perth and Kinross area;
- support local employers at all stages of the employment process in order to create sustainable job opportunities for disadvantaged adults;
- offer pre-employment preparation, employment training and re-training for disadvantaged adults;
- deliver relevant employability training, consultancy and related awareness raising events to employers and other stakeholders;
- manage all aspects of the recruitment, training and support of volunteer employment Buddies2;
- manage the partnership activities of the CheckIn Group3 until such time as the Group disbands or achieves independent legal status;
- strengthen the local social economy through social enterprise development; and
- promote the values of anti-discriminatory practice and social inclusion in all business and other activities.
- Disadvantaged adults are those adults, aged 16 years and over living within the Perth and Kinross area, and experiencing a range of disabilities, mental ill-health, homelessness and other barriers to sustaining meaningful employment.
- Buddies are trained volunteers who support disadvantaged individuals as they make transition towards employment and other work preparation activities.
- The CheckIn Group is a consortium of voluntary and statutory sector agencies that share a common employability agenda. The Group seeks innovative ways of promoting sustainable employment for disadvantaged adults.
